Romans 12:4 "For even as we have many members of one body, and all the members don't have the same function, 5 so we who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another." (WEB)
We as Christians make up what is called " the body of Christ. This verse explains a little about what that means. It means that a human body is made up of many different parts and each part has a different function. Your hands don't do the same thing as your eyes and your feet don't do the same thing as your ears, but they all work together to make your body function the way that it is designed to. So this is how it is with the body of believers called The Church. (Remember that The Church is actually the people who make up the body of believers, not the building itself.) God designed you with purpose. He created you and gave you special talents to help the body function the way that it is supposed to. He wants you to contribute your talents and use them in practical ways for His kingdom. Everyone has something to offer, and everyone is different, but what God has gifted you with is important to His kingdom. If you are not sure what your talent is, pray and ask God to reveal it to you. You may want to ask an adult to pray with you. If you are sincere about working in Gods Kingdom, He will show you what areas He has gifted you.
As we are all members of the same body. We have to take care of one another. When you walk through a dark room at night and bump your knee on a table or something, your hand will probably immediately grab your knee. As you jump around on one leg in pain, your hand has taken on the task of comforting your knee. It is a reflex. As it should be with the body of Christ. If someone weeps, we are to weep with them and if someone rejoices we are to rejoice with them. We have to look out for one another and comfort one another.
As you grow in Christ, He will reveal more of Himself to you, and He will begin to define and redefine what your place may be in the body of Christ. And as long as you put Him first, you will grow with confidence and become the Christian that He has called you to be.
