Earthly Example

An intercessor could be thought of as Person A who brings a message to Person B from Person C. "Bobby wanted me to tell you that he likes you."  Person A is the intercessor.

Spiritual Explanation

Spiritually, intercession is just praying to God for someone else. Sometimes God will just pop someone into your head that you are supposed to pray for or something you are supposed to pray for. People with a strong gift of intercession would rather spend time praying than doing other things. 

Biblical Example

• In the Bible, Epaphras prayed for people a lot, I mean a lot! He was always praying. (Colossians 4:12) 
• Jesus intercedes for us so that we can have a relationship with God the Father. Jesus asked God to forgive the people who put Him on the cross. (Luke 23:34)
  
• In the Old Testament, Abraham talked to God to try to get him to not destroy the very bad cities of Sodom and Gomorrah because Abraham's nephew Lot lived there. (Genesis 18:17-33)
