Depending on where you live, during Fall/Autumn, leaves start to change their appearance from green to yellow, brown, orange, red, purple, or colors in between. Aren't they pretty?
As it gets closer to the winter, and the days get shorter, most of the leaves on the tree fall down to the ground. Some leaves fall before others.
- Do you think more leaves fall when it is windy or calm?
- Do you think the leaves that still look green have a better chance of holding on to the tree than the ones that are not?
One of the reasons leaves change from green to other colors is because the Chlorophyl in the leaf breaks down, allowing the other colors to show. The tree stops sending water and nutrients to the leaves and the leaf eventually falls and dies. This happens over time.
Our bodies are kind of like leaves. We only have so long in this world before our bodies change and fall to the ground. Some people leave this world before others. What we do during that time is super important!
Romans 8:5 says, "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit."
We should focus on God and the stuff He wants us to do.
