Many of us have pets at home. Having a pet is a great responsibility and they can teach us about how to care for others. Maybe it is your job to look after your pet. Lets take a look at what the bible says about pets.
Proverbs 12:10 says "A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel." WEB It's important to be kind to our pets. Godly people should always show love to their pets even when showing discipline. God loves animals. Luke 12:6 says, “Aren’t five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God." WEB In the Book of Numbers we see just how seriously God takes this issue. In Numbers 22 we find Balaam riding his donkey. And an angel appears on the road, blocking the way but only the donkey can see it. So the donkey turns away. This angers Balaam so he hits the donkey. The donkey then thrusts itself into a wall to avoid the angel ,crushing Balaams foot so Balaam strikes the donkey again. Then when the donkey saw there was no escape it just lays down. Balaam began hitting her with a stick. It was then that God opened the mouth of the donkey and it said, " What have I ever done to you to make you hit me three times? Am I not the donkey that you have ridden on since I became yours?" Then Balaam's eyes were opened and he saw the angel and bowed down. God actually let this animal speak human words to its owner. This is a humorous story and I would encourage you to read it in its entirety.
We have a Godly responsibility to be kind to our animals. God has blessed us with the opportunity to have animals in our home and it is important to give them attention and love. Being kind to animals in our home or in the wild will help us to be more Christ like.
